About Faculty
A studio with standards
Faculty is small on purpose.
One principal, one client at a time.
The founder
Chris Shiflett has been working on the web for thirty years. He’s the founder and principal of Faculty — the lead on every Sprint, the steady hand and constant set of eyes on everything we ship.
He works from Roost, a coworking studio in Boulder, surrounded by other founders, freelancers, and creatives. (He runs Roost, too.) It’s the kind of studio where good work happens.
The first half of his career was engineering — infrastructure, security, scalability. Then he decided he would rather create scalability problems than solve them. The second half has been product, design, and strategy. Two sides of the same coin.
That pivot led him to cofound Brooklyn Beta, a conference where he encouraged attendees to “make something you love.” Attendees included founders of Airbnb, Etsy, Kickstarter, Shopify, and Squarespace. They were all making something they loved. Since then, so has he.

Work with Faculty
If you’re shaping a product, the Faculty Sprint is how to work with us. Five weeks, $55,000, one client at a time. It ends with a working, deployed product on your own infrastructure — focused, functional, and ready for customers.
